John S. Daniels (1906-1996) was a pen name for Award-winning Western writer Wayne D. Overholser, author of more than twenty Westerns and three time recipient of the Spur Award. Ute Country (1958/1964) is a second printing Signet Paperback with a 2" tear along the bottom edge of the spine. The binding is tight and pages unmarked. War Party is a 1st Edition 1966 Signet Paperback with tight binding and clean unmarked pages.
The Sioux Indian Wars is a 1st Edition Monarch Paperback (1962). Author John Conway (pen name for Joseph Chadwick) was a popular Western writer of the period. All three books typify the style and conventions of the era, including the use of derogatory terms such as "savages" to describe native Americans, while often showing sympathy for the plight of Native people who were regarded as unfortunate victims of inevitable displacement by a superior Anglo civilization. All three books are fast-paced engaging reads. Smoke free home.
